Weston: One theory the sun burns their brains out.

There are about a million jokes that start out or end with "I've got some swampland in Florida to sell you." Now to put it bluntly every one in Weston lives in that joke.

When ever I go looking through the listings of homes for sale I see crazy prices in desirable areas near the coast or even on the beach, and then a bunch more in Weston. Why/Who would pay as much for a similiar place out in the deepest part of surban sprawl as they would for a place that was actually an easy commute near anything and everything? This brings us to this slice of hevean on what is euphemistically called prime bottom-land!

2777 Kinsington Cr Unit: 9-4 Weston, FL 33332 MLS ID# F892477

● 4 Bed, 2.5 Bath
● 2,505 Sq. Ft.
● Townhome
● newly installed elevator
On the MLS at $649,900
Purchased on 9/12/2005 $700,000
● For a loss of $50.100

2812 KINSINGTON CR Unit: 28-4 WESTON, FL 33332 MLS ID# H834954

● 4 Bed, 3 Bath
● 3,180 Sq. Ft.
On the MLS at $575,000
Purchased on 9/20/2005 $624,500
● For a loss of $49,500

So if I bought (NOT!) this townhome I'd get more Sq Ft a full bath over a half bath but one less elevator in a two story house, but I'd save $74,900 which I'd bet would more then cover the cost of an elevator.

But that's not the story here, the story here is the crazy, insanly high listings! Lets look back over the price run-ups on Florida swampland!

This unit was...8/12/2002 $286,000 The other one with the elevator was...7/31/2002 $371,000.

And just to add to the insanity of these listing prices let's look at this one!

2814 Kinsington Cr Unit: 28-3 Weston, FL 33332 MLS ID# D1213931

● 4 Bed, 2.5 Bath
● 2,465 Sq. Ft.
On the MLS at $510,000
Purchased on 12/16/2003 $387,000
● For a gain of $123,000

This last seller is starting out over priced but cutting the leggs out from under the first two listings yet he can still drop his price over 100k and not be underwater should he get relegion and realy truely want to unload his unit. So again we are left to ponder how their listing agents have let the first two sellers continue to list a price that is so far above another seller who's unit hasn't sold.

Oh and lets add this ones history too!

12/16/2003 $387,000
08/16/2002 $283,400

So in the course of 4 months a few years ago this home made over 100k for itself, now thats good work for just being in a swamp!

AAAHHHH the sun it burns! -The MCP cried in pain
